I’m going to talk about this scene for a bit.
This is a fast conversation between the brothers, but it is also very important. Even with the two of them going against one man (Eska and Desna aren’t seen until a few scenes later) they’re still outmatched. Both of them know this, Bolin even expresses doubt at their ability to win. They’re surrounded by snow and trees with no idea where Unalaq could be hiding. But Mako knows what their goal is; they just have to stop him from getting back to the spirit world.
They’re prepared to go down fighting tooth and nail (maybe even to the point of death if it could go that far) fighting against Unalaq because Korra is counting on them. She has to have enough time to stop Vaatu and seal him away in the Tree of Time or else they run the risk of Unalaq fusing with Vaatu and throwing the world into chaos. Everything that they’ve done today has lead to this point.
And they fail.
Title: Playing Hero
Word Count: 300-ish
Summary: [Lin observes Team Avatar’s reunion and has some thought on the teens. | Lin Beifong. Korra. The Krew.]
A/N: I had to write something quick after seeing those new scenes. And I liked Lin’s slight ‘smirk’ when the team hugs so here’s a small fic about that. (
sorry it’s crappy rn I might edit it over tomorrow morning)
With Varrick under custody, Lin releases Mako from jail. While the group of teens talk it all out and Lin offers Mako is old job back (“You’ll make a fine detective one day – it you’d learn to play it by the rules.”) They’re all surprised when Korra comes running into the police station, panting and nearly out of breath. Lin watches from afar as she explains everything that has happened and, after some minor confusion is cleared up (“Wait, you didn’t go the Fire Nation?”) everything is both clear and utter monkeyfeathers at the same time.
“So wait-” Bolin asks, trying to get everything straight. “Your uncle is a bad guy after all?”
“Yes!” Korra says, her breath almost taken from her previous explanation. “And now he has Jinora’s spirit captive and is going to release Vaatu any day now! I need to get to the South Pole to close the portals before that happens; will you help me?”
“Of course we’ll help.” Asami says, looking worried. Bolin runs up to Korra and yanks her into their group.
“Yeah! Team Avatar is back in business!” he says, pulling everyone together for a group hug. And for the first time in a few minutes the jail hall is filled with laughter and smiles as the ‘team’ wraps their arms around each other. They break apart soon after, and Korra begins waving them to the exit.
“Come on! Tenzin and his siblings are waiting for us by the docks!”
Lin steps at them.
“Avatar!” she calls, catching the young girl right before she follows her friends out the door and Lin finds herself smiling as she looks at her – a slight lift of her lips is all it is.
Korra nods once, strong and steady and is out the door in a flash. She knows what she has to do, and Lin shakes her head, the “smile” still lingering on the edge of her lips.
They’re off to play hero again.
Lin can only hope they’re prepared for what’s to come.
if i’m going to waste my life drawing self-indulgent sick babies, i could at least try to practice some worthwhile stuff at the same time. =u=;;;
felt like drawing cute and happy rule 63 Bolin woooo
sketchin’ around trying to draw a countdown here’s a bolin
Legend of Korra’s Book 2 Countdown (5/10)
Day 6 is Bolin! I am hoping for lots of good stuff for this guy, like good character development y’know.
Less than a week LESS THAN A WEEK LESS THAN A WEEK
I think I ship Borra more than I let on - but that is besides the point.
This kid would probably proclaim himself champion of the boxing ring and Korra would nickname him Bruiser.
And everyone is okay with it and they are all happy and love fighting. The End.
"I’ll find a way… for Mako…"
Inspired by masterarrowhead and jasjuliet. This is an AU where Mako is bedridden and it’s up to Bolin to be the big brother and pay the bills, so he resorts to participating in fighting matches organized and patronized by nonbenders, where the stakes are as high as the prize is large.
Bottom line, brotherly love gives me deep feels.
Thought I’d give this whole brawler!Bolin AU a try, inspired by masterarrowhead! :D
Oh my gosh, i just realized that bolin still being a probender in book two makes so much more sense after watching rch.
He’s the one who got them into being probenders in the first place, and being a probender was essentially like starting their life again; a life free of crime that would have led him (and esspecially mako) down a much darker road.
It makes a lot of sense for Bolin to remain probending because he feels a connection to it since its led to so many great things in his life (leaving the triads, meeting korra, ect.) and its another reason why i absolutetly love Republic City Hustle, it gives pro bending such a deeper meaning than what we originally thought in book 1.
Don’t go soft on me, Mako. Use your head.
